Countryside Wildlife Explorers Birthday Parties

We offer Wonderful Woodland Birthday Parties set either within Ninesprings, Yeovil Country Park, or Ham Hill Country Park.

An amazing opportunity for your child to have a bespoke birthday party with their friends in the woods. A range of party themes are available to suit all tastes and interests for a variety of ages.

Parties are led by a Becky, environmental educator, qualified forest school and bushcraft practitioner, or Paul, Countryside Ranger, environmental educator, and forager, with help from an enthusiastic assistant.

Birthday Bushcraft

Join us to explore the woodland, finding the evidence of the wildlife that lives there. We will discover base camp, here we will each learn how to make and manage fire and build our own dens. We will cook our own campfire snack.  You will make your own bushcraft object to take away (choice will be discussed at time of booking as it depends on season and ages)

Wonderful wildlife birthdays

Join us to discover some of the amazing wildlife which lives in the parks. You could have a magical minibeast party and discover the minibeasts living within the woodland, a meadow party where you can have a go with butterfly and sweep nets, or a pond dipping party (Ninesprings only) to find wriggly tadpoles and tiny water shrimp. (all at certain times of the year, dependant on the wildlife).  We’ll have break for a snack and drink around the campfire.  You’ll get to make your own clay minibeast to take away at the end of the party.

Woodland Faeries and Dragons Party

Explore the woodland and look out for the signs left behind by the fairies, dragons and wildlife who live in the wood.  We’ll collect forest treasures as we explore and create our own magic wands and create special potions in the mud kitchen.  We’ll use Dragon’s sneezes to create fire then snack around the woodland campfire and play games among the fairy garden.

Horrible Histories Party

Dress up as an Iron Age Warrior or a Roman Legionary. Run up and down the ramparts and imagine you are battling for a place on Ham Hill or try your hand at using an iron age sling shot. You can stamp your own iron age coin, weave a natural cordage wrist band or make a roman clay coil pot. Look the part with iron age woad face painting. We will have a traditional campfire snack around the fire.

Bats and Nightime party

These very special parties are only available during August & September at Ninesprings.

We will go for a woodland walk to discover the nocturnal animals within the woodland. We’ll gather in the woodland storyzone to toast marshmallows, drink hot chocolate and discover more about amazing bats. Becky, licensed bat ecologist, will either tell a batty story, for younger children, or a talk about bat ecology for older children, or a bit of both!  We’ll play a batty game. Then learn how to use the bat detectors, to embark on a bat walk to see which bats are flying in the woods in the dark. You’ll be able to hear the bats flying around you using your bat detector. Nine different species of bats fly within Ninesprings including the rare Barbastelle bat, it’s a very special place for a bat walk.

Toddler Teddy Bears Picnic Party

We’ll take our teddy bears on a bear hunt through the meadows then settle down for a story and a teddy bears picnic (biscuits, fruit and water/squash).  We’ll do a little nature hunt, have a go with some musical instruments, then each child will make a simple craft to take home.
